Historical consensus dates Zoroaster centuries before the birth of Jesus (circa 1500 to 600 BCE), making it chronologically impossible for him to have sent the magi. Outside mainstream endorsement: Eastern Christian apocrypha, such as the Syriac Infancy Gospel and the Cave of Treasures, document ancient traditions claiming Zoroaster foretold Christ's birth and instructed the Persian Magi to seek him out.
